From friend and former USPS colleague Matt Zappile comes a motion graphics and greenscreen heavy marketing piece promoting Intelligent Mail Services. This project was unbelievably cool to work on. I served as DP for the shoot where Matt and I decided to shoot with the RED camera. Our rig consisted of the RED shooting to compact flash cards, a Cooke zoom lens, and several studio monitors for accurate lighting information. I really had fun with the RED and realized it’s exactly like shooting film with all the added benefits of instant video feedback. On the post-side, I assisted Matt in compositing several of the shots where the characters interact with the transparent screens. Matt developed a simple color palette and worked with a friend to generate an entire 3D neighborhood where a USPS vehicle could drive through! The credit on this one goes to Matt…I just pointed the camera and tweaked graphics so Matt could spend some time with his new son!
