While working at VideoTakes, I edited this short promo for a web documentary detailing the life of Henry A. Wallace, FDR’s Secretary of Agriculture and 3rd term Vice-President. Culled from archival footage of political conventions of the era, I used the flashbulbs and crowd action as a guide for the edit. I wanted the piece to have a chaotic feel, as if the viewer were there standing in the aisles at the 1944 Democratic Convention. This promo features Aaron Copland’s iconic musical piece “Fanfare for the Common Man” written in honor of Henry A. Wallace. It was a special privilege to be able to do an edit using such a well-known piece of music.
